Colin Kaepernick is still been arguably blackballed from the NFL after leading the kneeling protests in 2016 during the National Anthem played at the beginning of football games . In August of 2017, he sued the NFL for collusion. Today, his lawyers confirm both he and Eric Reid, their other NFL client who says he too was unfairly treated for protesting, reached a settlement. Due to confidentiality, we don't know the terms of the settlement. But what we do know is, the NFL agreed to give $100M over 7 years to social justice organizations right after Colin's suit was filed. It remains unclear if the NFL admitted wrongdoing or how much money Reid, Kaepernick or others may have received.
Colin still works out everyday and has said he's still interested in playing football again. Not so shockingly, no team has sign him. Eric has re-signed since the fall out, and recently just signed another contract with the Panthers.
Colin, who signed a $1M book deal back in 2017, has been putting his efforts into giving money and resources to justice organizations, running his own Know Your Rights camp, and being the face of constantly sold out Nike merch supporting his vision for equality.
