Sellout shows by pop stars including Adele and Justin Bieber contributed to pre-tax profits rising by 14 per cent to £5.9 million (€6.7 million) last year at the 3Arena in Dublin.
New accounts lodged by Apollo Leisure Group (ALG), owned by Live Nation, show that the group recorded an increase in profits as revenues rose by 4 per cent from £15.6 million to £16.26 million. This was despite a 17 per cent decline in customer attendance from 666,318 to 554,422 in 2016.
During the year, the box office for concerts by Adele generated €2.4 million in two nights, while Justin Bieber's venue ticket sales made €2.1 million. Profits were shared between the venue, promoter and artist.
