Media Rant

Last Thursday, after spending all day in WF, I came home to sit down and catch up on my blog reading. The first thing I saw was something about the shootings in Connecticut. I immediately went to the TV to see what was being said.  Since it was the news hour I expected to find lots of news. Instead I got Diane Sawyer telling me how I was suppose to feel and what to say to my children and how I was suppose to treat things in the coming days. Really!  So, I went back to the computer and to my puter-news sources, but even they were of very little help.  I was looking for the basic who, what, where, when, and why. I got the where and when, but the who and what were a bit iffy.  The why was outright speculation and lots of it.  It was very frustrating.

This post is not about my feelings about the murders of young innocent children. You know my feelings - they are the same as yours.  No, this rant is about the media telling me how to think, and what to do, and speculating on the what if's. Well, I have some what if's too, but that is another rant. In the days since the shootings, I have watched some major networks and read some news on the Internet, but never to my satisfaction as to what went down. Just the facts, ma'am.  I'm not against hearing stories of heroism and learning about each person killed. Yet, I get the feeling that I'm being manipulated. Finally I found a Wiki article with the basic timeline and facts.  Really? Yep.
